Administrative Training Division
Mission
To guide, bring qualitative changes, set standards, take new initiatives and to over see the t raining activities of the Institute being per formed by various Centres/Cells.

Objectives
1.To plan, Design and organize induction, mid career and refresher training programmes for various functionaries of the state.

2. To evaluate/assess and to conduct quality audit for various courses being organized by different Cells/Centres of the Institute.

3. To ensure identification of good talents from different training programmes/ departments and to develop these persons as potential trainers by way of academic support in terms of organizing Training of Trainers and capacity building in their domain area.

4. To mentor and evaluate the training activities of RDCs and different specific Centre/Cells.

5. To suggest and guide various subject specific Centre/Cells for new initiatives.

6. To maintain directory of resource persons in different areas.

7. Establishing liaison with departments for organizing and other training related activities.
Spectrum of Activities
1.Trainer Development Programmes: Identify good talent who has the zeal to act as trainers, organizing Training of Trainers programmes, recognizing trained persons as provisional trainers, organizing Internship and grant of Certification.

2. Training Standards: Guiding, helping and supporting various subject-specific centers on developing Training Protocols.

3. Capacity building of Institute's faculty: Getting nominations for training programmes organized by different Institute/ATIs, arranging in house ToT programmes, arranging special lectures and other capacity building events.

4. Coordination with other agencies: Issue circulars through personnel department for getting nominations, coordination with DoPT, various departments and individual experts.

5. Academic Inputs: Preparing and updating classified directory of resource persons, carry out quality audits of training programmes, etc
Activities carried out so far
1. Training of Trainers Programmes on General Management and Behavioral Skills to develop potential resource persons.

2. Outward Bound Learning Programme for MGSIPAP officers and Resource Persons of Regional & District Centres.

3. Training Programme on Management of Training to sensitize the Institute faculty about the Training Management and ISO.

4. One day workshop for the officers of Dairy Development Department, Punjab to discuss various issues regarding training and the role of MGSIPAP.

5. TNA Workshop for the Department of Health, Education, Agriculture and PWD [B&R] to know their training needs.

6. Training of Trainers Programme to enhance the capabilities of trainers and potential trainers.

7. Training Programmes on Enhancing Personal Effectiveness to bring necessary behavioral changes and help them to be more efficient at work situation .
Recent Activities
Trainer Development(January-February 2012)
The trainer development programme is one of the most important activities undertaken by the Institute. It includes identification of potential trainers from various departments, developing them as good trainers by arranging advance domain training and training them as trainers. Under this scheme, training on 'Direct Trainer Skills' was organized for the officers of various departments from 12-16 December 2011. Shri Atul Joshi, Shri Rakesh Singhal and Dr. Sunita Zalpuri, Recognized Trainers of DoPT (GOI) were the facilitators of this five day training. The programme was meant to provide basic instructional skills.
The trainer development programme envisages two fold approach:-
1. Imparting expertise as a trainer with the ability to identify training needs, design training modules, organize training programmes and conduct training sessions.

2. Updating domain knowledge for specific job profiles to cover competency gaps.
Following topics were covered in the programme:-
1. Distinction between education, training and learning.
2. Four stages in Systematic Approach to Training.
3. Role of a trainer within Systematic Approach to Training.
4. Application of concept of Learning Unit to training activities.
5. Writing training objectives.
6. Planning training activities, using the four ways of learning.
7. Use and benefits of visual aids and devising visual aids.
8. Prepare, implement and practice the training methods, such as coaching, lecture, discussion leading, group exercise, etc.
9. Process of obtaining and importance of feedback in training.
