Documentation Division
Mission
To dissemination information
by way of providing print and
published material for reading
such as books, periodicals,
papers, etc, as well as
collaborate with other
institutions, organization,
associations and societies in
India and abroad working
with similar objectives.
Introduction
The Library and Documentation Division accumulates,
organizes, and maintains information in the
areas of Public Administration ,
Management and Governance. The Division
documents research, training, evaluation
and other activities of the Institute related to
governance and public administration.

h) Bring out the Institutional Publications and encourage and support the Centres to take initiatives for publishing books/journals.

Library
The Library is a constituent unit of the
Documentation Division. The Division
manages the State-of-the-Art automated
library to provide library and information
services to its members apart from catering
to the information needs of various Centres
and Cells of the Institute. The Library Unit
provides information bulletins in the form of
news clippings, reports, training calendars,
manuals, etc. The library has a collection of
over 27000 documents in the areas of Public
Administration, Laws, Governance and
Management, besides of general interest.
The library subscribes to 75 periodicals. The
library has about 250 external members who
are from IAS, PCS and other officers of the
State Government. The Library Unit supports
the Centres to set up independent libraries
within their domain.
Information Service
Newspaper Clipping Service: The Library
collects relevant and up-to-date news items,
editorial comments and articles on
developments in the legislative, political,
economic, socio-cultural fields related to the
State. At present, the clippings are taken
from 13 newspapers in English, Hindi and
Punjabi. The clippings are circulated to all
the faculty/offices on daily basis and library
provides photocopies of those clippings
marked by the faculty/officers. The scope of
this service is being widened for prompt
information dissemination to the Regional
and District Centres of the Institute.
Publications
The Documentation Division regularly brings
out the Institute's publications which include
a monthly newsletter - MGSIPAP
Newsletter, books on various topics of
governance and other occasional
publications.

3. Handbook on Quotes from Mahatma.
4. Handbook on RTI Act 2005.
