Mission

To improve management efficiency in various areas of public administration particularly those characterized by deficiencies in system leading to poor performance

Objectives

1. To carry out research work relating to various aspects of governance.
2. To suggest remedial measures for improving the administrative efficiency of various departments and their activities.
3. To restore people's confidence and pride in the administration and the system of governance in the State.
4. To create awareness about the policies and programmes of the government among the people as well as subordinate employees of the concerned departments.
5. To upgrade the skills and improve capacity of those charged with the responsibilities of governance

Activities carried out so far

1. T raining cour ses for the Head- Masters/Head Mistress and Principals of Sr. Secondary Schools
2. Workshops on Maintenance of Accounts for l Superintendants and Accounts Clerks of Govt. Departments
3. A massive programme of training Panches and Sarpanches in rural areas and trained about 21000 Panches/Sarpanches.
4. Conducted168 Gram Sabha meetings in 56 blocks under Jalandhar Division to sensitize members of Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayats about the importance and usefulness of Gram Sabha Meetings.
5. Workshops to discuss the ways and means to increase income of Zila Parishad, Panchayat Samitis and other elected bodies.
6. Training of officers and officials of the Excise & Taxation Department under Jalandhar Division.
7. Wor k shops on on Pos t Di sas ter Management Response & recovery jointly with the Disaster Management Cell of the Institute.
8. Seminars on RTI Act for officers of various departments, PIOs & APIOs of the office of Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar and Commissioner, Jalandhar Division.
9. Seminar and training programmes on Human Rights Act for the officers and Heads of Departments of Jalandhar, Kapurthala and SBS Nagar districts.
10.Training programmes on behaviour skills to the Officers and Officials of various departments of Jalandhar Division.
11.Seminars on 'Disciplinary Proceedings' for the Officers and Heads of Departments of Amritsar, Tarn-Taran and Jalandhar Districts.
12.Seminar on Environmental Pollution to discuss environment problems related to soil, water and air in the State.

Recent Activities

Capacity building workshops in behavioural skills were organized for:

Officers and staff of the Department of Food & Civil Supplies on 8th of November, 2011.

Shri N K Arora, IAS (Retd.) Advisor of the Regional Centre, Jalandhar inaugurated the workshop and stressed upon the importance of training in improving office working Dr. Ranjit Singh, Dean (Retd.), Pb. Agriculture University delivered lecture on the topic, Service with Smile, communication, listening, motivation and work ethics. Dr. J K Gulati, Asst. Professor, Guru Nanak Dev University College, Ladowali Road, Jalandhar delivered lecture on importance of attitude. In the end, Dr. Usha Kapoor Principal, GNDU College, Jalandhar delivered lecture on the topics of time and stress management.

Shri D D Ternach, IAS, Director Land Records inaugurated the workshop. Dr. S B Singh, (Retd.) Principal, GNE College, Ludhiana delivered lecture on the topic Service with Smile, importance of attitude, Dr. Ranjit Singh, Dean (Retd.), Pb. Agriculture University delivered lecture on the topic, communication, listening and motivation. He also talked at length delivered lecture on the topics of time and stress management in the evening.

Interpersonal relations in the end Dr. Usha Kapoor, Principal, GNDU College Jalandhar delivered lecture on the topics of time management and stress management.
