Recent Activities
Training on Human Rights
A three-day training programme on human rights was
organised at District Centre Bathinda with the support of
Institute's Centre for Law, Justice and Governance. Deputy
Commissioner Bathinda Shri Kamal Kishor Yadav inaugurated
the programme. He said that training on protection of human
rights is the need of the hour. These programmes can make
the people aware of laws and facts about human rights and to
protect the human rights we have to start from ourselves so
that violations of human rights can be prevented. He
appealed to the participants to take the message of this
programme to maximum people in order to achieve the real
objective of this programme.
At the occasion, Shri J R Singla, incharge of Centre for Law, Justice and Governance gave detailed information about human rights laws and their importance Shri Mandeep Singh, Project Coordinator at District Centre Bathinda informed the participants various aspects of human rights such as origin and development of human rights, Human Rights Act 1993, Indian Constitution and human rights, human rights and various sections of society, etc. would be discussed. In first session of programme, the resource person Shri Raghuvir Singh, associate professor Baba Farid Law College Faridkot delivered informative lecture on 'origin and development of human rights'. In second session, Shri Arun Kumar, associate professor Punjabi University Regional Centre Bathinda, in his lecture provided immense information about Indian Constitution and Human rights and Human Rights and various sections of society. Shri Rajan Garg, president Bar Council Bathinda and Shri Iqbaljit Singh Kingra, district attorney Bathinda were also present with their teams.

RTS Act 2011 and RTI Act 2005 for Representatives
of PRIs at Block level
Seminars about Right to Service Act 2011 and Right to
Information Act 2005 were organized by Disrict Centre
Bathinda of MGSIPAP for panches/sarpanches, block samiti
members and zila parishad members on 9,11 and 15
November at BDPO offices Bathinda, Talwandi Sabo and
Nathana respectively.
MGSIPAP District Project Coordinator Shri Mandeep Singh gave information about MGSIPAP to representatives of PRIs and threw light on aims of these seminars. He told that MGSIPAP has started a campaign to make the representatives of PRIs of different blocks of District Bathinda aware of Right to Service Act and Right to Information Act. Shri Vinod Kumar Bansal, resource person from DC Office Bathinda spoke in detail about Right to Service and told about services covered under this act and also about the timeframe of rendering the services done and the concerned officials. He further said that 67 services of different departments which are directly related to common man are covered in this act.
