Examination of cases relating to disciplinary proceedings- The mechanics of working as Presenting Officer
Seminar for the Superintendents & Sr. Assistants, Heads of various departments of Jalandhar District was held on September 26, 2011. Shri N.K.Arora, IAS(retd.) Advisor, Regional Centre, Jalandhar highlighted the role of Enquiry Officer and the importance of framing of charge sheet in disciplinary cases. He stressed on the need for prompt action in deciding these cases. Shri Banke Bihari, Under Secretary (retd.), Personnel, Resource Person of the Institute sensitized the participants about the procedure of examination of cases relating to disciplinary proceedings, how to conduct enquiry and the role of a presenting officer. Twenty-six officers participated in the seminar and suggested that such informative seminars should be organized for other employees of their department.
Capacity building of the officers and officials of Punjab Technical University
A capacity building workshop, sponsored by Punjab Technical University, on behavioural skills was organized by the Regional Centre, Jalandhar for the officers and officials of the University on September 7, 2011. Shri N.K.Arora, IAS (retd.) Advisor, Regional Centre, Jalandhar inaugurated the workshop. He explained the importance of this workshop in improving the office working. Dr. Surinder Bir Singh, Retired Principal, GN Engineering College, Ludhiana talked about “Leadership skills & Team work”, Shri J.K.Gulati, Associate Professor, GNDU College, Jalandhar, resource person explained how important positive attitude is for a happy work life. Dr.Ranjit Singh, Retired Dean, Punjab Agriculture University emphasized the significance of effective communication, time management. He also explained techniques of stress management during work hours and at home. The participants' feedback reveals how great they felt after having learnt all of the above. They rated the programme as excellent.

For enriching the knowledge of officers & officials of Municipal Corporation , Jalandhar - Right to Information Act,2005 Capacity Building workshop. Shri N.K.Arora , while inaugurating the workshop, apprised the participants of the salient features of the RTI Act, 2005. He stated that the Act was framed to ensure greater and more effective access to information. Shri Jatinder Singh, Programme Officer, MGSIPAP, spoke at length, about the salient features of the Act, third party information, powesr & functions of State Information Commissions, appeals and penalties, jurisdictions of Courts, protection for good faith. Y.V.Rishi, Advocate, Jalandhar District Courts explained the important provisions, the role of PIOs/APIOs, disposal of requests, time limits, fee structure and the exemptions under the Act. Advocate Rishi and Shri Jatinder Singh after their addressed the queries of the participants who rated it as programme worth participating in.
