Experiential Learning
Under the able guidance of Sh. B.K. Srivastva, IAS Director
General, MGSIPAP, Chandigarh Regional Centre of MGSIPAP at
Patiala organized experiential learning programmes for the
employees of various departments, NGOs, etc. The programme is
popularly known as the Out Bound Learning programme (OBL). In
the month of September, an OBL programme was conducted for
twenty-seven participants including school heads, teachers and
representatives of outstanding NGOs. A calm and picturesque
location near Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh was chosen to make
learning more enjoyable. Col. B.M. Sablok, Col. S.S. Chauhan and
their team conducted the programme.
Interesting group learning activities on team building, communication, trust, motivation, work culture, problem solving, conflict resolution, etc. were conducted. The trainees had a delightful experience. They said that the OBL proved to be a great stress buster.
Training Needs of Districts
Under the Chairmanship of Sh. S.R. Ladhar, IAS Commissioner, Patiala Division in which Deputy Commissioners of six districts under Patiala division namely Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala, Ludhiana, SAS Nagar and Fatehgarh Sahib participated. Shri B.K. Srivastava, IAS Director General, MGSIPAP, Chandigarh was the chief guest. At the outset, the objectives, constitution, administration and day to day activities of MGSIPAP were explained. The pivotal role that the deputy commissioners can play in governance, management and development was laid emphasis on. Shri b.K.Srivastava further said that the deputy commissioners should identify experts, retired and present officers/officials, who can bring lot of improvement in governance and administration on the basis of their experience. He also mentioned about different initiatives taken up by the Institute and appealed them for active participation and cooperation.
Role of NGOs in Governance and Management
A launching conference was held at Patiala with the active cooperation of the Centre for Participatory Management and Voluntary Organisations of MGSIPAP. The aim of this conference was to strengthen NGOs at lower level for garnering their support and cooperation in improving the state of governance. In this conference Sub Divisional Officers of six districts under Patiala division namely Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala, Ludhiana, SAS Nagar and Fatehgarh Sahib participated. Commissioner Patiala Division, Patiala, Sh. S.R. Ladhar, IAS presided over the function and Sh. B.K. Srivastava, IAS Director General, MGSIPAP, Chandigarh was chief the guest. In the conference, apart from explaining the role of MGSIPAP in management, governance and development the role of NGOs for providing a forum for leadership to develop professional growth to mobilize human and financial resources to adopt new areas was discussed. Participants were given the blue print and plan of action for setting up Sub Divisional Units of NGOs.
