Introduction
The Institute has state-of-the-art automated library and holds
information resources predominantly related to Behavioural Sciences,
Public Administration, Rural & Urban Development Planning;
Information Technology; Management, Economic Planning &
Development; Revenue Law and Administration, Training Technology, etc.
besides subjects of general interest. Resources At present, the library has a collection of over 26000 documents – Books, Bound volumes, Training Manuals, Reports, CDs/DVDs etc., and the Library subscribes to various periodicals. List of Periodicals. ICT Applications The Library has completed automation of its operations in March 2002 using LibSys 4 and efforts are being made to develop a digital library of training modules using Greenstone Digital Library Software. Library Catalogue The entire collection of the Library including the CDs / DVDs can be accessed through Institute’s network and also find out the availability of library materials from the computer terminals within the Campus through Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). Library & Information Services The Library offers a wide range of Library & Information services to its members. The Library has co-operative arrangements with other libraries in the City to facilitate inter-library loan to get the documents that are not available in the Library. The Library staff support the faculty and members in various ways, like conducting extensive literature surveys, preparation of subject bibliographies on any given topic, reading lists, online database searches, etc., besides providing the formal library & information services. Library & Information Products The Library brings out two information products -“New Additions List” (NAL), a bi-monthly list, giving information on new books, CDs/DVDs and other materials added to the Library and the “Current Articles List" (CAL), a monthly list of new journal articles indexed in the Library. Library Training Programme Organizing Training Programmes in ICT Applications in Libraries for Library & Information Science professionals at the regional level. Membership The membership of the Library is open to the employees of the Institute; IAS/PCS and other Group A Officers of the Punjab State Government; Trainees at the Institute; and Individual members associated with training and teaching. Working Hours The Library is open from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm- Monday thru Friday. Contact Address
