Out Bound Learning Programme (OBL) by Management Development Cell at MGSIPAP(October 2011)
Introduction:
Management Development Cell (MDC) of MGSIPAP seeks to meet the ever growing training needs of the employees in government institutions. An outbound training programme has been planned by the cell as one of its prime initiative to inculcate a sense of trust and responsibility, team spirit and building self-confidence and various aspects of organization behaviour among employees at an out bound location. OBL will foster quick understanding and imbibing of skills and competencies among the employees.
Concept
1.It makes training sessions more interactive and interesting

2.With the use of natural resources, rather than the monotonous classroom sessions and electronic medium.

3.These types of training would help trainee’s to creatively participate in all exercises and games. And help to build their motivational skills, teamwork and personality.

Objectives

1.To improve cooperation among team members and develop a sense of trust.

2.To improve team spirit and build confidence.

3.to develop inter personal and communication skills.

4.To bring home certain other principles of management to the participants.

Methodology

1.Team centered training games/activities/ tasks.

2.Individual development activities.

3.Leaning through interaction.
Activities/ Games/ Energizers
Trust Walk
Objective : Trust, team building and attention switching.

Material : Blindfolds and ropes

Description : The participants are divided int groups of fifteen. One or more of the five senses of each of the participants is constrained blindfolds and ropes and the leader is asked to lead them on a walk.

Lesson to be leant: Trust, team building, coordination and cooperation.

Hit-the-pot:

Objective : Team building

Material : Earthen pots and sticks

Description : Divide the participants into group of ten. One person from each group will be blindfolded and others will guide him to locate and hit the pot kept at a distance. Members of other groups may distract the blindfolded person. The participant has to hit the pot within five minutes, whoever takes the least time to hit the pot, wins.

Lesson to be leant: Cooperation can overcome constraints.

Pass the ball energizer

Material : Balls

Description : Participants are divided into groups of 10 or 12. Each group is given a ball as they stand in a circle. The ball is passed around in a certain sequence while calling out the name of the person to whom th ball is being thrown. The game continues till the group gains speed and expertise.

Booklet making activity:

Objective : Importance of quality work, coordination in team and leadership.

Material : Newspapers, scissors, scales , staplers , with extra pins.

Description : Participants will be divided into 4 groups. Each group will be given a sample booklet, two old newspapers, one scissor, one stapler and one scale.

Instructions : To make as many exactly similar booklets as possible within 15 minutes. They will be judged on quality and quantity. The best performing group will be declared winner. This will be followed by discussion and debriefing with all the participants.
